Environmental Challenge
A leading producer and marketer of biofuels and related products retained Pinnacle Engineering to assist with wastewater-related issues at one of its biofuels facilities. The client had large outdoor stormwater retaining ponds that had become contaminated. As a result of the contamination, the water was considered wastewater and the holding ponds no longer complied with the facility’s existing regulatory permitting.
Engineering & Regulatory Support
Our team provided engineering design and third-party engineering review services. As part of the review process, we surveyed the facility’s wastewater ponds to verify that they were installed in accordance with the design documents. This process involved tracing wastewater piping lines and performing non-destructive seam testing and seepage tests on the ponds’ liners. Additionally, we prepared a written engineering evaluation for submission to the state and negotiated with regulators on behalf of the client.
Analysis & Results
The team’s timely and cost-effective engineering solutions enabled the client to resolve outstanding noncompliance issues with the state agency and achieve permitted discharge of the facility’s wastewater.
