Environmental Review

Pinnacle’s environmental team has completed numerous environmental reviews for a variety of projects, including commercial/residential developments, industrial operations, and dredging projects. Early in the planning process for a proposed project, an environmental review is completed to determine if the proposed action has any potential for impact to the environment. Acting as the project’s advocate, Pinnacle’s team compiles information on critical environmental and infrastructure issues, and brings resolution to these issues in the environmental review process.

Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW)
An EAW is a brief review of a project, screening it for any potential for significant environmental impact. If the EAW leads to the conclusion that a project may pose significant environmental risks, then an EIS must be prepared as well.

Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
The EIS is a very thorough study of specific environmental effects identified for a project. It provides reasonable alternatives to mitigate or minimize environmental risks the project faces.

Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR)
The AUAR is a substitute form of review that blends the requirements of the EAW and the EIS. The AUAR format offers the planner more flexibility and planning options than an EAW or EIS. Like an EIS, the AUAR includes alternative scenarios and a very specific mitigation plan. An AUAR can be used on mixed use projects, resulting in expedited environmental reviews, saving several months of time, and allowing greater flexibility in the final development process.

NEPA Review
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to integrate environmental values into their decision making processes by considering the environmental impacts of their proposed actions and reasonable alternatives to those actions. To meet this requirement, federal agencies may prepare an environmental assessment or a detailed Environmental Impact Statement.

With our fifteen plus years experience with cell tower expansion for the telecommunications industry, and our more recent demand of similar services in the wind power industry, Pinnacle has a solid background with the NEPA review process.  Our knowledge of the applicable regulations and familiarity with the participating Federal, state and local agencies and tribal nations, has contributed to the success of our projects.
